In the spring, when the river melts, it brings with it an incredible sight especially when the caribous passed by. In 1999, my lucky year, thousands of caribous crossed the village. The villagers had not seen them for years. What a show ! ! !

Merchandises are sent to the north by plane, but with the summer, boats arrive with four wheels vehicles, skidoos that were bought from the south. Beside heavy merchandise, they also deliver all the dangerous goods. Heating and car fuel are also delivered that way. But the most interesting part is that, the river not being deep enough, the boats cannot go to Kuujjuaq so they wait in the upper river (in front of the Old Fort Chimo) and there the barges take over and bring all the merchandise to the shore in Kuujjuaq. This is one of the summer attractions.

The general store is without any doubt our first source of supplies from groceries to clothing, fishing and hunting goods. You can find everything at the general store! ! ! Well almost everything! I have learned from previous experience that, never should you plan a meal in advance or you might be disappointed. Every week brings a different surprise! We cannot believe that because this week you find a product that you love that you will necessarily find it on your next grocery expedition! ! ! It would be a very big mistake! ! ! But... we get used to those restrictions, if not we can always order from the south. There are in Montréal, stores that are specialized in cargo deliveries, within 3 days, First Air to Tivi Transport, a local transport company, delivers your groceries to your home in Kuujjuaq.

The vegetation is omnipresent in the summer time, short but beautiful. After 9 months of winter, a simple dandelion is of an incredible beauty.
